The Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL), on August 4, 2026, issued a communiqué reiterating its earlier instructions regarding the non-charging of Annual Maintenance Charges (AMC) for eligible demat accounts containing only illiquid, suspended, or delisted securities. The communiqué refers to the earlier guidance issued on September 30, 2025, and provides Depository Participants (DPs) with an updated list of eligible Beneficial Owner (BO) accounts for compliance.
CDSL has informed DPs that a DP-wise list of demat accounts in "To be Closed" status, holding only securities classified as illiquid, suspended for trading, or delisted, has been placed in the respective DP billing folders. The classification of such securities is based on information received from the relevant stock exchanges. Where no eligible BO accounts exist for a DP, no corresponding file will be made available for download.
Depository Participants have been advised to review the shared list and ensure that AMC is not levied on the identified BO accounts, subject to the conditions specified in the earlier communiqué dated September 30, 2025. The communiqué reiterates the need for DPs to ensure full compliance with the prescribed instructions.
